1: Creating a torrent using Azureus |
 |
| 1.
Click on the File menu at the top of the window. Select Create a
Torrent. |
| |
 |
| 2.
In the box next to Announce URL, put in the URL of the tracker you
are using. Note that this is not the same as the main URL for the
site. Each site has it's own upload section and the tracker URL will
usually be listed there. OiNK's announce URL is:
http://OiNK.me.uk:83/announce.php
Note that most (and I said most, not all) tracker URLs end in
announce.php
3. Leave/uncheck Add Multi-Tracker information to the torrent
and Add hashes for other networks (e.g.
Gnutella2, eDonkey2000).
4. Depending on if your torrent consists of a Single file or a whole
Directory, select one of the two options. Let's assume we are making
a torrent out of a directory for the rest of this tutorial. The
steps are the same for a single file only instead of choosing a
DIRECTORY you choose a SINGLE FILE. Pretty straight forward, yes?!
5. The Comment field is optional. If you've got something useful to
put here, then feel free to do so. No one cares about who you are
and if you ripped this torrent or whatever (sorry, but it's true) so
don't put some lame-ass thing like r1pp3d bY d00fu5d0rk2004. It's
against OiNK's rules anyway. Click
Next.
|
| |
 |
| 6.
This is where you choose your file/directory you want to share. I
think it's fairly self explanatory. If it's not then you probably
shouldn't be using a computer at all. For idjitz: Click on the
Browse button and browse to the file/directory you want to share.
Click on it, then click OK/Open. Click Next. |
| |
 |
| 7.
Choose where you are going to save the torrent file you are creating
(the one you need to upload). I have a folder on my Desktop called
Torrents for this purpose. I suggest you do something similar so you
know where your torrent files are. The Desktop is good for easy
access (For idjitz: right click your mousey on your Desktop. Click
New, and select Folder. Ooooh, look, Windows just made a folder and
it's asking you to name it. Call it TORRENTS already!!!!) 8. Now
save the torrent there (click Finish on the Azureus Make a torrent
window). Don't mess with the Piece Size. Azureus will select the
"best" size for you. Seriously, I mean it! Unless you know exactly
what you're doing you're best to just leave it alone. It can make
things really difficult for downloaders (peers) if you make the
pieces too big or too small. |
| |
 |
| 9.
Azureus will now "hash" the files. When it's done you will get a
message that says Saving File... File saved. Click on the Close
button. |
| |
| 10.
Now I usually start to seed before I upload because it usually takes
a while for Azureus to "check" the file, which it can be doing while
you are uploading the torrent file. |

| |
| Part
2: How to seed/reseed in Azureus |
 |
| |
 |
| 1.
Click File > Open > .torrent file (For Seeding). Browse until you
find the torrent you just created or the torrent file you want to
reseed. Click Open. |
| |
 |
| 2. A
window will come up asking you to Choose the save path. This is the
location of the file/directory you want to share. Browse until you
find it. Click on it. Click Open. |
| |
| 3.
Azureus will start "checking" the file. If you've done everything
right, when it gets to 100% Azureus will move it into the bottom
window. Congratulations, you are now seeding! |
| |
|
NOTE: If you're upload speed it not 47 trillion gigabits/millisecond
you might want to consider Super Seeding. I'm not going to explain
how it works (you can find that information elsewhere) but it gets
your files uploaded faster. You really only want to use Super
Seeding when you are the only seed (preferably when it's on a
torrent you just created). To activate Super Seeding, click View >
Configuration. Expand the Queue menu at the very boom of the left
frame. Click on the branch named Seeding and check Use Super
Seeding. Click Save (down in the bottom left corner). Close the
Configuration window. |
